The Itinerary for the Day

Who should come: Intermediate to Advanced Players would benefit the most from this all-day workshop but beginners are welcome to participate as well and pick up as much as they can.

10am-Noon: The basics of jazz & blues. You will learn about swing time, blues scales and utility chord progressions. Learn to play a 12-bar blues along with accompaniment patterns and bass lines. Does involve some thinking and of course lots of playing.

1-2:30pm: Fuel up to improvise and build on the morning topics. You'll learn a song or two using these new ideas and then improvise, improvise, improvise!

2:50-4pm: Tips & tricks How to make your solo more interesting, coherent, and cool. We'll also take some time for individual coaching.
